Mid-semester evaluation

Mid-semester evaluation

I recently requested the students offer feedback via a Typeform survey. Some of the responses I received seemed to focus on the amount of work as too overwhelming. There also seems to be a need for more in-class time for the students to work on their projects, rather than focus so much time on group critiques. Moving forward, I will shift the due dates so that the students are offered more time to conceptualize and ideate.

In the future, I will not request a project submission at the same time as the midterm exam. I will also allow students to use their book and notes when test taking. I've also opted to offer my lectures on Dropbox for viewing, and aid in their preparation for the midterm exam.

There is this pressure of having a substantial amount of work done in time for each critique, but there is no time to really think through the design problems at hand...(I feel) there is a lack of design thinking. The only way I will feel absolutely prepared in the real world is if I am taught how to properly create data visualizations in a clean and effective manner. I hope this helps, I still believe this can be an awesome class!
